Book Title- The Triplet's Curse - Hope's Story
Why should the readers pick up your story and where can they get it.
The Triplet's Curse - Hope's Story is available on pretty much every platform: Amazon, IBooks, B&N, etc. I think the story should be given a chance by readers who enjoy clean YA, a little bit of humor mixed in with family working together.
At what point do you think someone should call themselves a writer?
To me a writer is someone who weaves a tale they want to tell. I don't believe you should follow the trend, you should write stories that you would want to read.
What do the words “writer’s block” mean to you?
I personally haven't come across 'writer's block' yet, but that may be due to the fact that I have so many story ideas in my head that I can just move from one to the other if needed.
How do you process and deal with negative book reviews?
I don't mind negative book reviews as long as it's reasonable, and I have no issue with a reader getting in touch with me to let me know what issues they have with the book. Sometimes an issue with the story is something that can easily be fixed or explained as to why it's put the way it is.
What is the most difficult part of your writing process?
For me it's finding the time to write. I work a full and part time job, plus being a mom, so I have to try and divvy up my time accordingly.
What advice would you give to a writer working on their first book?
Don't give up. Even if what you start off with isn't very well written, there are people who are wiling to help new and upcoming authors. It can be extremely daunting trying to put out what can be deemed as a good book, so yea, I would say just don't give up if putting a book out there is something you truly want to do.
How do you develop your plot and characters?
I don't do much plotting, if the book cover doesn't have a person on the cover, I use kind of a vague image to base each character off of. As for story plot...I either will already have an idea for how I want the story to end and I just let the words flow, or the cover gives me an idea for what story it wants written.
How many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I have two individual stories and so far all others are part of anthologies for the most part. The Triplet's Curse - Hope's Story will always be my favorite because it was the first one I've written.
Which of the characters do you relate to the most and why?
Hope - I based her very much off of how I perceived myself as a teenager.
What was your hardest scene to write, and why?
Currently the final book of The Triplet's Curse Trilogy is giving me the most trouble because Faith is one of those perky cheerleader types, although she's matured a lot with everything her and her sister's have had to deal with, but since that personality is so different from my own, I'm having trouble portraying it accurately.
How long did it take you to write this book?
I actually started writing Hope's Story on Wattpad probably in the early 2000's, and didn't publish it until 2017. Mostly because there weren't many reads for the story on Wattpad and no one was giving any comments on whether they enjoyed what was written at that point. So, for a long time, I stopped writing.
Would you and your main character get along? Why or Why Not?
Yes, since I based her off of how I was growing up.
Have you ever traveled as research for your book?
Nope, unless it's needed, I don't really research for my stories because I want to write to my own tune. If I feel like this or that has already been done so much, then I'll try and make some minor changes to make it hopefully a little different than the norm.
What’s your favorite writing snack or drink?
Twizzlers...drink, I don't really have one.
How do you celebrate when you finish your book?
I usually try to do a release party with other YA authors.
When was the last time you Googled yourself and what did you find?
Oh wow, hmm...maybe about 6 months or so ago and I found links to my book.
If your book were made into a movie, which actors would play your characters?
Ohh, hmm. I've never really thought about it...with my characters being teenagers it makes it a little harder to figure up the age group...but maybe Jenna Ortega and Madison Bailey as two of the sisters.
What books do you enjoy reading? Why?
I enjoy reading rom-coms and YA books. Paranormal/Fantasy/UF, etc. Reading is my escape from reality, so if the book is funny that's a bonus, and if it's not based on reality, another bonus. I like reading YA because sometimes I get tired of reading all the sex scenes and such, so it's a nice change.
Are there any books or authors that inspired you to become a writer? Why?
I would probably say that Jaymin Eve's Walker Saga got me back interested in writing again.
If you could be mentored by a famous author, who would it be?
I think Jaymin Eve would be a good indie author to be mentored by. Also, Eva Pohler and Josephine Angelini who all have amazing books out.
If you could be a character in one of your favorite books, who would you be? Why?
Oh boy, I'm not quite sure. Let's go with growing up...I read The Babysitter's Club alot and I think I would want to be Claudia because she always seemed kind of exotic to me and I loved how artsy she is.
